Construction Week 5

Pouring concrete always seem like a major milestone, more than likely due to the nature of the material. Concrete seems like such a permanent material, and in fact in our studio projects, we often use it to create an air of stability and permanence in a project. In the case of construction, the feeling is almost the same. There’s no going back once the concrete is poured. The walls/piers/floor are set, mistakes and all. Now focus has shifted to the ceiling and roof structure, and it feels like rounding the home stretch as far as the exterior is concerned. We still have porches and a stairwell to construct, but once the roof is completed we can begin to move inside, and rain days are no longer an issue.
